I'd love some freelance information work to keep my skills going but not seeing anything. Anyone need an ad hoc health librarian / cataloguer / thesauriser? Is that a word? Index er, abstractor, searcher... But loving raising awareness of Mental health

But I am resisting for the moment. On the brink of letting my cilip membership lapse because I can't really afford. Or can I? I hate the thought of not being a "card carrying" librarian.

Since taking redundancy I am not working in a library. I am self employed. Peculiarly I am seeing more viable library jobs I could apply for that I ever did when I wanted them.

Sorry about that :-). Not been around for a bit. when is a librarian, not a librarian? It is a debate I have with myself.

I encouraged many of my staff to attend training () as it really helped me to better understand what influenced my mental health, as well as gave skills to support others - be they colleagues or customers.

Including my own of course! so frustrating when you know you could help people in their work and make a real difference, but you never have budget, staff, or just authority to do your job properly

Cuts, repetition, lack of control, trying to do things with to little resources, lack of status or respect, coupled with a real sense of vocation, duty, caring - can lead to stress, anxiety, depression for many

A study once placed librarian high, if not top on a list of most stressful jobs, believe it or not.
