Israel vaccinating at world's fastest rate, yet excludes 4.5 mill Palestinians living under its control. In parts of West Bank, receipt of vaccine depends on if you're Jewish or Palestinian. on Israel's duty to provide vaccine to occupied Palestinians

THIS IS NOT COMPLICATED. Israel controls nearly every aspect of Palestinian life in the West Bank and Gaza. The Israeli government has a moral and legal obligation to provide the people under their control with the life-saving vaccine.

5,000 vaccines= about .1% that given to Israeli citizens. Israel's legal duties far exceed offering spare doses. After 50+ of occupation, it must provide Palestinians in the occupied territory with equitable access to the vaccine on par with what it provides its own citizens.

Finally got around to reading 's fantastic piece in the . One question it left me with was what, if anything, might force liberal Zionists + US and EU policymakers to recognize the one-state reality for what it is.

A drop in the bucket. In comparison, Israel has so far administered 4,347,206 doses to its citizens including Israeli settlers living in the occupied West Bank. Israel is legally obligated to provide vaccines to all people living under its control. It’s not charity or favor.

How did the PA manage to undo much of the progress it built in the first half of its existence. PSR's latest policy brief identifies four sources of authoritarianism in the Palestinian political system:

Your weekly reminder that even *if* elections go smoothly, Palestinians will still have to contend with the legacy of institutional deconstruction (incl weakening of the judiciary) and growing authoritarianism under both Abbas and Hamas.

My latest: the PA has no strategy; its leaders don’t know where they were going with decisions like halting relations with Israel — or restoring them. They're, instead, too hopeful that holds a magic wand to emancipation.

After a decade of empty talk, the PA might be more serious about elections—but not out of a desire for change. Abbas will likely win another four years. He'll have nothing to offer except the same ideas that led nowhere over the previous sixteen.
