Yellow vest protestors at Churchill Square are having their “No UN” chants met with “No racism” chants. The yellow vests say they’re demonstrating against Trudeau, Notley, Bill C-69 and the UN Migration Pactpic.twitter.com/LPiDjddRAq

I forgot to tweet that several people wearing 'Wolves of Odin' jackets (Edmonton splinter of Soldiers of Odin) attended the protests, but wouldn't speak to me. I wonder if people would admit they're anti-immigrant to me if I looked different and wasn't named Omar. Story to come.pic.twitter.com/FM3ngwMnGL
Here's my story on today's yellow vest protest at the Alberta legislature/city hall/Churchill Square, as well as the counter protesthttps://www.thestar.com/edmonton/2018/12/15/yellow-vests-clash-with-counter-protestors-at-alberta-legislature-and-churchill-square.html …
What is it with their sickening obsession with hanging their political enemies? One would hope that the police would have said something about that. The @RCMP really needs to start paying attention to this.
It’s drawn from the US tradition of lynch mobs
These were my two favourites. They were broody and angry. Especially when we started singing. I think the guy on the right believed himself to be intimidating us. I blew him kisses.pic.twitter.com/ybrKKewoLZ
You were not intimidated, but you stayed behind police lines and tried to incite him? Oh I see. Meanwhile the vast majority of Canada is fed up with failed leftist policies. I dont see the movement losing steam. About now Communism and Socialism is on the run, as it should be.
This guy was actually shoving people before the police showed up. He needed no inciting. These assholes are just pissy that they're losing their oilfield jobs (like they do every few years in Alberta) and want to blame it on immigrants. Oil is a NON-RENEWABLE RESOURCE.
So they are angry that jobs are becoming less, as more immigrants come in and compete with citizens for limited resources - while the government subsidizes said immigrants. Not sure how that makes them assholes, so much as heated and disgusted with failing policies.
Immigrants are not the problem. Oil is. Alberta goes through this all of the time. Prices go down, people lose jobs. Prices go back up, people get jobs. This is why Alberta needs to focus on RENEWABLE energy. Again, it's NOT a problem related to immigration. Period.
Well as we al know, there are no sources of renewable energy without fossil fuels to provide energy for their development. There has to be a steadier hand in development/immigration. Sounds like Trudeau's open immigration is costing Canadians employment opportunities/resources.
Then you are not listening. The oilfield job yo-yo has been a thing since the industry started. It has nothing to do with politics, or immigration. It's purely an oil price thing. And something that we wouldn't have to worry about so much if we invested in other things.
Facts are we do NOT have Open Borders & the UN Migration Pact is non-blinding; simply an agreement to try & tackle problems around Migration. You think if their 'concern' were genuine, they too would be interested in this. Not using it to front their Racism!
If a person really believed that our Prime Minister has committed treason, wouldn’t alerting the authorities make more sense than a crudely drawn sign?
Usually when people claim they are not racist, they really are.
Especially when they feel the need to loudly proclaim how they're not racist.
Omg. So ignorant.
When someone starts a sentence with, "I am not a racist but ...", usually some racist crap follows.
If you say so. In my experience, anyone who disagrees with a leftist, on pretty much anything, is a "racist"...it's such a tired, meaningless "knee jerk" assumption. Try something new.
No, when they blame being laid off in the on immigrants instead of the simple fact of the oil business, I call them a racist (especially when job insecurity in oil is our history in AB). When they are on stolen land but want to deny migration of POC, I call them a racist.
Who are "they"? All business has layoffs from time to time. "Some" citizens are impacted by illegal, low paid workers. Few American citizens hold year round farm work in my county anymore. How is being pissed about losing a job to people with no legal right to be here "racist"?
Because they are NOT losing their jobs to people with no legal rights to be here. If someone has no legal right to be here they are not simply walking in and stealing jobs. They lose them because the oil companies lay them off due to low prices. Period.
