My intervention for the day for was to highlight the ways that this movement is MORE than curriculum (though our curriculum committee is awesome ❤️). We are looking at POLICY-CHANGE. The curriculum is the cultural organizing that opens that possibility.

After thinking on this thread some more, I’m sitting with the sometime perception that is about introducing young people into activism and resistance, rather than a reflection and incubator of teacher-led activism on our students behalf.

a home aide won the rights to her client's rent stabilized apartment. these are only passed on to family members who live with the tenant or someone who can prove that their lives were *so intertwined* with the tenant so as to be family. this is HUGE!

Please stop this "but Nigerians are the most highly educated and achieving group" argument against Trump's immigration ban. We are not your exceptional Negroes and refuse to compete for who gets to be considered a human being.

THREAD. It's important to know that , this Week of Action, is more than a curricular opportunity to discuss Black activist legacies, but an ongoing call-to-action to interrupt and dismantle educational policies and practices that harm Black youth...

when these folx go through these lengths to make asinine points, it has everything to do with upholding a white supremacist and all of its myths—they are intentionally speaking to a very specific group of people.

"I don't think anyone wants a hand out or preferential treatment, although that's what we give ourselves every year. ...It is the obligation of the people that have created & perpetuate & benefit from a system of opression to be the ones that dismantle it. So...that's on us."
