They’re selling indulgences

If the elite climate change crowd really believed what they say about saving the planet, they wouldn't fly all over the face of the earth while telling me to carpool 6 miles to work.

If you can afford to pay indulgences ("contribution to Carbon Footprint™"), then the Church of Gaia allows you to be absolved of your sins.

They don’t think we are smart enough to notice the hypocrisy.

So, unless you can afford to plant half a forest, don't fly. A great way to rub the little people's faces in your privilege. The conversation on unearned privilege, the obvious progression after the *bias* homily you delivered, awaits, Harry. Let's hear you on that, my Prince.

Like Emma Thompson at the
#ExtinctionRebellion tantrum earlier this year, excusing herself from flying by saying she does "plant some trees"

Parallels with Scientology. The rich throw money at the cult and are absolved of their thetans, the poor sign billion-year contracts with Sea Org.
-
Catholic indulgences in medieval times allowed rich Catholics to pay away their sins by giving money to the church, this is no different.
-
Historians fallacy. Come on bud you know full well the Catholic Church does not do this anymore. You sound like you’re defending Scientology’s practice of the same when the Catholic Church stopped this awful practice long ago.
-
He doesn't sound like he's defending Scientology's practice, he's merely equating the medieval and known to be wrong by everybody including current-day Catholics practice with environmentalism and Scientology.

Still trying to figure out someone can make things "carbon neutral" when they've already caused carbon to spew out.

Can’t see anything negative in offsetting the carbon emissions. Would be different if Elton John was advocating legislation that would make life harder for poor people.
-
Those carbon offsets go to pay corrupt governments to raze local villages so they can plant trees. To offset Elton's carbon foot print. Last I looked that's poor people losing their homes. Pro Tip: You make life harder for a poor person if you destroy their home...
