    Here is Ilhan Omar criticizing US ally, and Muslim-majority Arab country, Egypt, on human rights grounds. No one will pay any attention. And then next time she criticizes Israel it’ll be the same lazy ‘how come she only ever criticizes Israel? What about...?’

    No ally is above reproach. We should not be enabling broadscale human rights violations. We must show solidarity with those brave Egyptians who continue to struggle for their internationally-recognized rights.

    Oh no. Kamala Harris recounts that her idea to criminally prosecute parents if their kids missed school was "a little controversial." Then she laughs. But this is soooo unfunny. The people prosecuted for this *crime* are overwhelmingly poor, black and brown, and struggling.

    Trying to fight a predatory, politically connected monopoly through heroic personal responsibility doesn't work. You can't fight the sugar companies just by dieting harder. You can't fight Amazon just by buying a few books locally. System problems must be solved systemically.
