Cis people really don’t understand how much they can hurt trans people without even noticing, right? I was just having a nice chat with someone and laughing, and then I got innocently misgendered by them. So there I am smiling with them and feeling like I just got stabbed.
The whole concept of ‘passing’ is messy, I’m not going to go into it, but it’s sad how badly it stings to feel utterly misunderstood. It’s also evidence for my theory that the only reason I get correctly gendered is I usually like to head out with lots of makeup on. Bummer.
Screw it, I’m going to be shameless: if you want to help stop this crappy thing from happening, I do have a surgery fund.

I legitimately have no idea how people can look at you and not see a beautiful and vibrant woman. Unless you're wearing the pink dress then all they see is *PINK*. (<3 :p)
You’re kind, but in person I don’t exactly look like my selfies. Looking at me straight on I look pretty different, my jaw is veeerryy wide and my face is square so combine that with my deep eyes and my voice and yeeeeeah.
I’ve had this exact experience before. I never know what to do I just kind of freeze
Yeah it sucks. If family do it I jump right in and correct them, but a stranger? I just feel awkward and can’t be bothered saying ‘Nope I’m a woman! Surprise!’ because then what? They’re just going to feel bad and I don’t want that as it wasn’t malicious.
Basically! 
Oof. Been there.. was enjoying a wonderful evening with an old friend, and then the misgendering started.. then their friends (who were cool to this point) started doing it too.. I didn't want to call my friend out in front of everyone.. but I kinda wish I did.
