The fanaticism surrounding Viticci and his iPad cult is bewildering. I've never actually seen anything like it. Is this a recent development? https://twitter.com/OhMDee/status/1131031138531569664 …pic.twitter.com/trDXZknhbe

Good point – by gradually increasing iOS' functionality to match macOS', this inevitably results in iOS' unique advantages dissipating and iPad becoming what the iPad Cult were desperately trying to avoid in the first place: a Mac. https://twitter.com/NSExceptional/status/1134499058175938560?s=19 …pic.twitter.com/MZcnqiWL56
Also, don't forget, a Mac usually has a significantly longer lifespan than an iPad. And guess which device Apple has more control over? Now that I think of it, on a Mac, Apple has no control over me as a user. I can choose to install any app I want, from anywhere.
I can choose to be as powerful as I want without seeking Apple's consent about what constitutes a powerful app. This must piss off investors.
Considering the extensive gymnastics employed by those who use their iPads “full time” to actually get anything done (while the rest of use happily use a mouse, keyboard, and multi-windowing), it seems the iPad is the DOS PC in this analogy. iPad is, in some ways, a regression.
iPad is really great at light computing and content consumption (which enthusiasts have been railing against for years, egged on by Apple) but it is practically preordained by its form factor. It excels at some forms of pro work (like drawing) but these are very niche
That is a really great post about the iPad and fanatism.
