Easy to say "monomorphization is awful and Rust should never have done it", harder to say "I want all generic functions to be compiled to bytecode and to embed a Rust interpreter in every binary".

The feat that the JDK team is about to pull is nothing short of a software engineering marvel. Records, Fibers, Vectorization, and hopefully tail call optimization. As a bonus all the innovation coming from Graal and Truffle. What a time to be alive.

I rediscovered programming as a professional tool when I learned about functional programming, type systems and category theory. I also started to enjoy programming again, and realized how maths are important when trying to deliver higher quality software.

Look at that beautiful implementation 😍

Just stumbled across "arch-as-code" (); it publishes software architecture docs to Structurizr from a YAML source (e.g. ) ... looks a nice alternative if you prefer plain text rather than using the client libraries directly.

I realize everyone's twitter feed looks different. But I'll go ahead and subtweet two conversations that I see going by right now: a) How the heck did Shopify get so big this decade and b) You have to work 80 hours a week to be successful. Thread/

“What’s a microservice?” “Okay you know how a function can call other functions?” “Yeah, of course” “It’s just like that…but add 15 servers, 2 load balancers, and at least 7 network hops, plus you get to role play in a murder-mystery when anything goes sideways”

Developers should never have been able to set cookies across domains in the first place. Here is the original cookie specs from 1997. (I wrote about this here: )

You hear a lot about the JEPs, which is great, but there were many other smaller, significant enhancements in . Check out the blog I wrote a few weeks ago to find out more about the security enhancements in JDK 13:

Recently my team created two clients for the same backend in Angular and JavaFX. Everyone agrees that developing on FX was way easier. We ditched Electron since we had to interact with hardware but is an interesting conclusion coming also from JS developers
