  2. Marx and Engels never said socialism means the richest being taxed at 70%. For them, socialism meant a class-free society with no rich and poor people at all! is a reformist — not a socialist. Journalists and editors need to learn that reforming capitalism is NOT socialism.

  3. Yesterday was ‘Fat Cat Friday’. It took chief executives just 29 hours — or three working days — to earn what an average worker receives in a whole year. As for capitalist billionaires, in a matter of minutes they can pocket what it takes the average worker to earn in a year.

  4. Britons owe a staggering £72.5bn on credit cards. When personal loans are added in, each household has almost £8,000 of outstanding consumer credit. 8.3m people in the UK are estimated to be over-indebted, and 22% of adults have less than £100 in savings.

  6. Chasing after money for most of their life is what humans do under capitalism. It’s crazy. Think how much free time people will have to do things they enjoy in a socialist world where they no longer have to toil long and hard to have a home, get goods and services, pay bills etc.

  8. With hundreds of thousands of federal employees currently furloughed or working without pay due to the government shutdown, Trump delivered another blow to workers on Friday by freezing the pay of around two million public employees in 2019.

  9. One supposed ‘problem’ that money-addicted people frequently hurl at socialists calling for a world where work is cooperative and voluntary is “Who would want to do the dirty jobs?”. Wherever required, these will be done by increasingly complex robots.

  10. 💷💵 Things people do for money under capitalism (#4,458,296,612). 💷💵 A shopkeeper and two friends killed five people when 26 litres of petrol poured into a shop basement was lit causing an explosion in an attempt to get a £330,000 insurance payout.

  11. A university researcher has said austerity measures in the UK have caused ‘social murder’. An article in an academic journal has revived the phrase to claim benefit cuts inflict violence on the poor to enrich a small elite.

  19. Drastic cuts to state funded and controlled testing of products are enabling rogues to make bigger profits. That 40% of bottles of ‘vintage’ whiskies are fake will amuse many people, but there will be other goods on sale which are dangerous, but as yet haven’t been identified.

  21. Barbaric capitalism with its barbaric necessity to obtain money drives many people to barbaric behaviour. Capitalism and all the serious problems it causes in today’s society cannot continue if people simply stop supporting those who want it to continue.
