We have revoked China Global Television Network’s (CGTN) licence to broadcast in the UK, after our investigation concluded that the licence was wrongfully held by Star China Media Ltd. (SCML). Read here for more information:

Ofcom spokesperson: “Our investigation showed that the licence for China Global Television Network is held by an entity which has no editorial control over its programmes. We are unable to approve the application to transfer the licence to China Global Television Network Corporation because it is ultimately controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, which is not permitted under UK broadcasting law. We’ve provided CGTN numerous opportunities to come into compliance, but it has not done so. We now consider it appropriate to withdraw the licence for CGTN to broadcast in the UK.” You can read our full decision on the Ofcom website.

Four in ten people who decide against switching broadband are put off by having to contact more than one provider. Our new plans mean you would only have to talk to your new provider, making switching a faster, simpler experience:

'One touch' for simpler switching process: first, contact the new provider to request services and provide details; then, you'll automatically get important switching information, such as early termination charges, from your current provider. You'll also get contract details from your new provider and consent to switch; Finally, your new services will begin on the agreed switch date and the old service will cease.

Take care if you receive calls, emails or texts about the Covid-19 vaccine. Fraudsters are contacting people, claiming to be from the NHS in an attempt to gain personal or financial details. Read more about these scams and how to report them:

Beware of this email with the title, 'This is a public health message from NHS'. Underneath, it claims you have been selected as part of the government's coronavirus vaccine rollout based on your family/medical history. And invites you to click on the links to 'accept' or 'reject' the invite. Scammers are using this to get financial information from victims. A tip: always check the sender's email address.
Text message reads: 'NHS: We have identified that your are eligible to apply for your vaccine. For more information and to apply, follow here : (hyperlinked) uk-application-form.com. This is a scam, do not click on the link - report it to your provider by forwarding the message to 7726.
A very convincing fake website, replicating the official NHS site. On the page it says you need to 'apply' for your vaccination - this is a sign that it the page is part of a scam. Another section lists that you will need a payment card to check for billing - this is another tell-tale sign of this scam as legitimate contact from the NHS would never ask you for this information.
