🔻4/6/2022 Park Update:🔻 Because of the heavy rains yesterday, the Opelofa & River Trails are both closed due to flooding! Closure will remain in effect until waters have receded and maintenance can assess the trails.

Did you get a shiny new bicycle this year from Santa? Maybe some running shoes? Binoculars and a birding book even? If so then Ocmulgee Mounds has a way for you to enjoy those new toys! We have trails for bikes, paved paths to run on or look for birds! Come and enjoy the park!

🚧TRAIL CLOSURE🚧 The Opelofa Trail, River Trail, and the trail between the Great Temple Mound and the Clay Pond are all CLOSED due to flooding caused by the rain storms over the past few days. All other trails are currently open! #NPS #Trail

Today is #MuscogeeMonday and we would like to highlight the fruit most associated with our state and that's the peach! "Pvkanv" pronounced (buh-GAH-nuh), meaning "a peach" August is known as "National Peach Month" and signifies the end of peach season in Georgia.

COVID-19 Mask Requirement Consistent with CDC guidance regarding areas of substantial or high transmission, visitors to Ocmulgee Mounds NHP, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask inside all park buildings.

TRAILS UPDATE: Tree cutting and removal will be taking place today on all park trails and some of the main park road! Hazzard signs are located around work areas! Please use caution when on trails!
After many months of being closed, the River Trail is officially OPEN! Some paved portions of the trail are still covered in silt from flooding but it is still passable. We encourage you to #RecreateResponsibly and use caution when on all trails!

Happy #MemorialDay! Originally known as "Decoration Day", it was a day to decorate graves of those that had died fighting during the American Civil War. After WW I the name was changed to "Memorial Day" to reflect and honor those who died serving their country in all U.S. Wars.
