How do you consistently write "Third Children" instead of "Third Child?"

I wanted to try the dub but opted not to because I heard exactly that. I just don't understand why they re-subbed it when the sub files have been online for nearly decades. Hell, I bet they could just swap out the .srt in the backend and fix it at anytime.
It feels almost like a publicity stunt, but then there's also the dumb mistakes like child/children, considering the lines that are prominently changed in the re-sub are some of the most important and iconic in the show, there's no way it wouldnt get people peeved
