I don't get how multiply flawed Gen 1 would be better than Gen 4 AND Gen 5. And nostalgia doesn't count as a reason
If you didn’t play platinum (he hasnt) gen 4 has a lot of problems, and everyone who’s told me to play gen 4 recommends specifically platinum, gen 1 has its own slew of issues, but I think the games are still playable,it’s realistic based on opinion.

I mean everyone that says play Gen 2 say play Crystal, same with Gen 3 and Emerald, Gen 5 and B2/W2, etc. and ofc Gen 1 is playable they are all good games (outside of XY and ORAS).

I'm sure nostalgia plays a factor here, but I like the overall package of gen 1 more than DP and B2/W2, both of which were decent games but ultimately forgettable for me. I think gen 1 pokemon has an amazing soundtrack, is the perfect length for a binge replay, and is simple fun.
