There is no legitimate reason a public meeting among voters should be closed to the press. None.

She just gave that reason. People have asked for this
-
It's not a valid one. If those were her concerns, make it private. I've supported her but those we follow aren't just automatically right. This is not ok regarding a free press. Bashing media to make excuses is a Trump move.
-
You truly don't understand the experience of minorities/POC in this country is you think their concerns aren't valid
-
I want to hear you say it. The PRESS
IS
THE
ENEMY
OF
THE
PEOPLE. -
No, because that's not true. Go stuff your own words in someone else's mouth

This is not looking good I'm going to pass on the opportunity to pile on and simply give my opinion. Have a closed door listening session and the Town Hall open to the press. You need someone to help you navigate the press far better than you are. Learn compromise.
-
I've noticed that you always seem to resist any type of negotiating or compromise, even in situations where rigidity harms you politically. You'll never pass one bill with that mindset. Life is a daily struggle woven on a tapestry of compromise.

The press knows that a closed meeting to protect identities of vulnerable people are a necessity. It’s why they don’t print/say names of minors or rape victims without permission. It isn’t news. Any news site that says otherwise is spinning for their audience.
-
wasn't it live streamed? how is that protecting those that were there? it's just an excuse that doesn't add up.

Geez. She holds one closed event to protect the vulnerable and people's heads explode. You would have thought she was, oh I don't know, sticking kids in cages or something.
-
It wasn’t a closed event. That’s the problem. A closed event would not have aroused this concern. It is a public event yet she tried to forbid journalists from witnessing or writing about it. That’s a screaming red flag.
-
Yes it was open to the public. But she closed it off to the press for the safety of the vulnerable population that would be exposing themselves. Don't you think that is just being judicious in light of the abhorrent ICE activity of late? Now if we see this trending, then worry.
-
there are some boundaries to protect victims and jurors. Numerous other examples. This was not necessary to protect anyone.
-
How can you say this? Having the press there could easily have put target signs on vulnerable people!Being open does require recklessness!!!
-
Then have a private meeting or discuss concerns with press. That takes place all the time. The meeting was live-streamed which simply means this was about who controlled the camera and the narrative.
