It means she isn’t a socialist. She’s a democratic socialist. It also means anyone who doesn’t try to understand the difference is only interested in smearing for smearings sake.

Depressingly so, many on her twitter feed. The only effective way to counter that misconception is to repeat the truth again and again. It’s something the GOP do well with their messaging, only their’s is the repetition of false promises and falsehoods.

Democratic socialism is the warm-up for a capitalist society before going full blown socialist. The word “democratic” implies its friendly to capitalism (equality of opportunity). It’s not, & that comes from Democratic Socialists of America.

Cortez would crush herself. She would have to lie again about her past and where she lives. The most devastating blow would come when she describes and tries to defend "Democratic" Socialism. If she manages to tell the truth doing that, her political career would end.
