Republicans got rid of the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees (Democrats already killed it for lower court ones), and budget reconciliation means their tax cuts for the rich can’t be filibustered either. Conversely, the filibuster *does* constrain Democratic policies.

The filibuster is the last remaining obstacle that stops 50.1% of the people from peeing in the corn flakes of the other 49.9%. If you are seriously unable to think of any reason why that might be a good and useful thing in a civilized republic, I can't help you.
