A story about a couple of A350 uncommanded engine shutdowns which couldn't be restarted due to spilling a drink on the centre pedestal. Makes me wonder if there is a nice single point of failure there from something as simple as liquid.

Four years ago Oracle killed my blog. Today I'm resurrecting it! Right now it has two original articles that remain very relevant to SmartOS and Illumos. And I've got a lot of fresh content in the pipe.

Nasty, but not surprising. To mitigate properly, you probably need an L1D$ flush similar to L1TF, but done on every privileged transition. And then you also do an MDS style buffer clear

Where is the AFP on this? Or our elected officials held to a different standard, much like Ms Annastacia Palaszczuk was when she recently disclosed the name of an ASIO officer. I communicated with two internal people and was thrown in prison for 455 days. What is happening? J

Chip architects at IBM, Intel, AMD, and Marvell weigh in on use of L4 cache memory in servers. L4 cache is by no means a new development, but it is also not commonplace in system architectures.

The corrupting of Australian values of fairness with tacit support of the legal system as we silently slide toward totalitarianism. Government employees, particularly the intelligence community are just expendables.

Maybe a coincidence, but today I received a heads up from the U.S. National Security Agency stating NSA’s Director of Cybersecurity is slated to host a call on Jan. 14 (Patch Tuesday) w/ news media that “will provide advanced notification of a current NSA cybersecurity issue.”

Wow! I got it! The International , orbiting Earth at 17,500mph, transits the full moon this evening, as seen from near Paynes Prairie Preserve in Florida. The window to capture this transit lasted a mere *0.58 seconds.*

As a software person I would love to read the bug RCA for this. I'd also like to ask how Boeing do their software unit and system testing but I'm afraid I'd never fly on their planes again.

Reminds me when blw and I were chasing a Solaris installer issue, we counted lines of code and were floored to find the installer had a lot more than all of zfs.
