Supervisors Mitch Mashburn and John Vasquez voted against funding Vallejo homeless assistance projects today. There will be another vote, but if Vallejo's going to get the money, one of them will need to change their vote.

We later obtained emails between Unity Care and the city which show that Unity Care had threatened to pull its staff out of the hotel because of continued hazardous conditions and the city not providing adequate resources for cleaning.

The state had previously moved to revoke Unity Care's license to operate five foster facilities in the Bay Area and did not renew a provisional license for a sixth for a litany of issues. Unity Care voluntarily surrendered the licenses.

We wrote about Unity Care when we reported on Project RoomKey last year. Five people died in the program and three weren't found for days. The city didn't disclose the deaths and Unity Care called the program "remarkably successful."

One of the projects the Solano Board of Supervisors will consider next week is $1.7M for a new foster home by the nonprofit Unity Care, which also provided case management in Vallejo's Project RoomKey program for about a year starting in late 2020.

Reviewing an awards submission and the criteria and all online-only publications are lumped in with the lowest circulation newspapers. So the tiniest newspapers and websites get to compete with ProPublica. Probably should rethink this structure.

When told me about the leaked IA records he had regarding former Vallejo police Officer Ryan McMahon, I never dreamed that we had something that attorneys litigating against this officer for years hadn't already seen under a protective order.
