    [6/7] The most recent reclamation entailed rebuilding 1,600 linear feet of stream channel. The main channel was lined with sand bedding and large boulders. In addition, several secondary ditches and runoff control structures were built to manage erosion on the property.

    [5/7] Nature responded again with another intense storm destroying the recent work and enlarged the primary gully headcut to 25 feet deep and cut an overall gully 1,600 feet long. Multiple large tributary gullies also developed on adjacent slopes.

    [3/7] The mine operated for over 50 years until it was abandoned in the late 1950s. In 1983, the Abandoned Mine Reclamation Program chose the Kenilworth mine as its first project. The reclamation demolished structures and cleaned up debris and coal refuse.
