PM: When I became PM in Sept 2015, one of the things I had to take responsibility for was a CG vessel that was on its way T&T. I will provide a Cabinet note which provides for the purchase of a vessel for more than $220 M.

PM: The election was Monday, the protocol of acceptance of the vessel was signed the day before on a Sunday. The same people who procured this vessel in this way are accusing this Gov't of violating procurement procedure.

PM: We are being accused of secrecy. What the people of T&T should know is that their Gov't is engaged in a lot of commercial arrangements and in these circumstances there are confidentiality issues.

PM: The terms of the contract for the vessel that was procured by the last Gov't included a clause 12 which speaks to non disclosure. This is the contract that the last Government signed for the coast guard vessel "Nelson".

PM: These are normal terms for a commercial arrangement. What the Opposition is doing is deliberately misleading the public into believing that there is something wrong happening.

PM: With respect to Sandals what is upsetting the public is that they are being told is that a secret agreement has been made with Sandals. We have not agreed to any terms and conditions for the Sandals of the project.

PM: The MOU between us and Sandals is simply an agreement between the two parties to work on this project. Once we agree with Sandals on what the project will be we will then submit it to the relevant parties who will decide whether to grant approval or not.

PM: The information that comes to me on a regular basis indicates to me that the ppl of T&T need to be aware of the insidious corruption that takes place within the public and private sector.

PM: This country has a cancer that is called corruption. This Government has decided to deal with it like no other Government has done before. A lot of it is being done in secret. You will have observed a development that happened in the Appeal Court.

PM: In the names called you would have seen public officials who were responsible for making decisions about how public funds are being spent.

PM: Those who believe that they can get away with white collar crime because the systems do not work, they have another thought coming, because we will make the systems work.
