    I don't know why the comments seem to be dogpiling on the photographer, she's only asking for what she should have been given in the first place. We should be looking out for independent creatives not giant corporations.

    On the one hand it's amazing to see how seriously people are taking data archaeology in games (plus, hell yeah, go get your paycheck!). On the other, this is exactly why preserving source code outside of a company vault is so difficult. Mistakes happen, placeholders stick around.

    Completely fascinated by this lawsuit: A photographer is suing Capcom for unpaid royalties after, I assume, the fan restoration authors found her photos in Resident Evil 4's textures. AND THEN: a ransomware data breach corroborated this by showing they even used her file names.

    While this might be de minimus use... Capcom has allegedly used 80+ photos (!) without permission. The court filing is 147 pages. 😳 How do you think this will play out? Photographer Sues Capcom for $12M for Using Her Photos in Video Games

    It really shows when no one bothers to read the article. Capcom took pictures from a CD that came with an architecture and design book, but to use the contents of the CD commercially you need a license, which Capcom never got. This isn't about a "window"

    Just wrapped up an online group meeting with a foreign client. My client wanted to introduce himself to my Japanese colleagues in Japanese, and asked me how to say "direct" in Japanese. Instinctively, I immediately raised my hands, did the Iwata gesture, and said "chokusetsu"!
