The first book I remember getting a big, "The New Harry Potter" marketing push was Eragon, written by a teenager. I never read it so this might be unfair but I wonder if HP didn't lower the bar for some time.

The first was okay. The second was just barely passable. I quit the third in disgust. I should add that I really like dragons and stories with dragons.

As I will be writing in my series of essays, there's not really any evidence of this, and her Cormoran Strike book THE SILKWORM would seem to indicate that she actually despises young ambitious writers GRRM, comparatively, has at least tried to give other authors a push
