hi nyle! i know you didn’t mean any harm by posting this, but peter has said that he doesn’t support inmates having the right to vote! this is an issue bc mass incarceration effects black and brown people at a disproportionate rate. please reconsider supporting him

But that would be a concern about reforming the criminal justice system to keep the innocent men black and brown out. The basis of the stance is inmates paying for the crimes they committed not keeping ethnic communities from voting necessarily.

It’s truly amazing to see ASL and the Deaf community be recognized and connected to by a presidential candidate. I’m still crying. Nyle, you were one of the earlier Deaf activists I admired, thank you for inspiring me & so many Deaf people to stand up for who we are!

Hey good job..The Deaf community are often left out of political conversations because many hearing people dont know ASL. We need more interpreters and CC on videos because Deaf people vote too !!!!

My signing sucks, but was the holding of the elbow typical? This was a really nice gesture though.

no, not typical for fluent ASL users but people who are just learning tend to do the elbow holding more I’ve noticed

For any of. When I was Learning ASL we didn't hold the elbow for those words. Also, my signing is not great, so that's why I asked.

yes, when fingerspelling. you shouldn’t hold your arm but sometimes people who are learning feel like their hands can’t stay still without it, it’s better to not have that habit though so good if you don’t do that!

pointing at your wrist/arm typically indicates something of importance is going to be fingerspelled, all of my Deaf professors do this when signing
