Update to this story. @SFPDChief Bill Scott has initiated an investigation into allegations that an officer told a burglary victim these crimes are happening because "San Francisco is too progressive."https://www.sfchronicle.com/sf/article/S-F-s-pandemic-surge-in-burglaries-is-16633265.php …

We had thieves smash down our condo building's front door a couple months ago. The officer who came told me essentially "Well, there's nothing we can really do about this even if we catch them, because you voters elected Chesa"

This is punishable “neglect of duty” under SFPD General Orders. If Chief’s Office fails to reach out to you, Police Commissioner

So if a cop happens to agree with your political view about an elected official, about decisions made by officials accountable to voters or those who appoint them, it’s OK for them to violate SFPD policy & not do the job SF taxpayers are paying them very top dollar to do? (1/?)

They can't do their jobs, that's the entire point. They'll be fired for taking action. Are you blind? Groups of people walking into retail stores and walking out with thousands $$$ in product and nobody can do anything about it. They don't even call the police

Fired for taking action/for doing their jobs? Zero evidence of that. Quite the opposite. For 2 years individual cops and their union have been loudly advertising they’re not going to make arrests or do their jobs because they don’t like the elected DA. They’ve invited this (1/2)

Read the story. SFPD is not solving a shocking 97% of all larcenies. Why? It doesn't say anyone is preventing them from doing so (who would/could?) or they'll be fired if they try. No evidence for your theory.. while evidence mounts of cops falsely blaming DA and lying to public.

They can't do their job if the DA isn't going to prosecute anyone and actually punish people.
@chesaboudin has been vocal and adamant about alternatives to incarceration. Not surprising given his upbringing by criminal parents1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Since their job is to make arrests, who's preventing them from doing that? Why? DA can't do his job of prosecution - either seeking incarceration or alternatives - if cops won't/don't make arrests. Here's the real data on SF DA prosecutions.https://sfdistrictattorney.org/policy/da-stat/
