It's stupid because it is something Luke from the OT wouldn't even consider

It's something we see Luke in the OT consider multiple times across all 3 films (though sans lightsaber in IV).

When the fate of the galaxy/his friends are directly in his hands.

And the fate of the galaxy/his friends remained in his hands. Thankfully, he shows up and saves Leia and the Resistance.

After being not Luke for a whole movie. And he didn't even show up. And what Resistance? It's literally a dozen people. Be they pull a Game of Thrones and magically respawn their armies. Let me guess, you liked that at well?

He was Luke the entire movie. And he does show up. Every single part of him that matters is there. "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter".

And not sure why my thoughts on a different franchise are relevant, but no, I'm not a huge GoT fan. There's some great performances in there, I watched all 8 seasons, but overall my reactions were mixed.

It was pretty bad he tried to kill Ben in his sleep, even if the feeling passed. But it was still criminal not to give the man a real Lightsaber battle, something people waited multiple decades for, including Mark Hamill. And then to kill him. It’s annoying as hell to many fans

He didn't try to kill Ben in his sleep. And Luke got the most Jedi-like Jedi moment of all time to cap off his time on the mortal coil. A lightsaber battle would have been completely antithetical to the idea of Luke being a true and proper Jedi in that moment.

Because follower count matters. Lol @jivjov blocking me because the definition of a word is "sexist" even though it's not. What a surprise! Pronouns in his profile. These TLJ defenders are so predictable they're meme worthy. If only they weren't such cowards.
