Ultimately, making the Hugos work and reflect the community is on the Worldcon. But when that work starts to include making an extra effort to ensure a certain actor meets basic standards of decency and responsibility, you have to start looking at that actor as well.

Between this, and last year's Hugo losers' party debacle, it seems clear that GRRM is going to please himself. That's his right, but other people have the right to draw conclusions from that, and to stop using him as the face of fandom.

It's not like they weren't aware of last year's issues. Giving GRRM that platform at all showed utter disdain for the people he hurt last year.
