If you're getting takeout/delivery during the COVID-19 isolation, consider local businesses first. We all love the chains, but they can survive this much easier than small businesses. Same goes for other purchases you might need - support local as they need it more than ever.

I had personal convos with both Chinese places I order from over the past few days. Just wanted to know how they were doing. Have no idea if they're open right now (going through the food I bought) but if they're open I'll patronize them as much as possible now.

Although, franchisees of big brands are local business owners as well.

Exactly what I was getting ready to say! Franchisees ARE local small business owners!

It should be mentioned that some of the "chains" are locally owned franchises.

Many friends and family members work for those chain restaurants and deserve to get tips, too. Good grief!!!

Also consider purchasing gift certificates online, if they're available.

stop already, they are mostly owned by franchisee who is just as local and deserving as anybody else.

We already had a popular deli in my town close at the end of last month. A lot of mom & pop places in CT were just hanging on before the CV shutdown

Well, our local chains support many local families too. McDonald’s was dead this morning, they are laying off people too. Shit like this pisses me off, but not nearly as much as the “Smithfield’s is Chinese don’t buy” junk flying around on the internet. Everyone is going to hurt.
