Please, let the background be different. Reusing assets for the main track makes sense because it's almost the same tileset. But the background should be unique, otherwise it's just a GV clone

And it's not like that's an exception with Nintendo: Majora's Mask 3D started development directly after OoT3D, yet Nintendo denied any plans of remaking the game before. And I believe the same thing happened with the Switch Lite.

Not saying it's the worst thing in the world, but you can clearly tell the tracks are ported over from Tour with slight changes and the MK8 lighting engine. The tracks are very inconsistent with those in the basegame. Heck, there's even inconsistencies between the DLC tracks.

People smarter than me have dug into the game.
It appears Nintendo wrote a drop-in replacement for the GX graphics API (the DirectX / Vulkan of the Wii) which translates it to the Switch’s NVN API.
This is more like a translator, versus Galaxy’s GPU emulator in 3DAS.

A lot of people seem to take this out of context: ONLY parts of the GPU are emulated - the rest is a native porting job. IMO, this is a good thing, because it assures that GFX are handled correctly - Wii and Switch are very different in architecture after all.

It could be argued that fast travlebmight even be slower if it just puts you in the sky. All the statues are at hotspots that have a lot of stuff and a ledge is never far away. Even in the surface it's not hard to reach a statue especially with the sail cloth.
