Your review was interesting, so thank you. I do wonder, though, about unintended consequences about the idea of fixed "potential." There is research to support the idea that teacher beliefs about intelligence/potential affect (sometimes strongly) learning outcomes for students.

1. If mindset interventions took format of cog behavior interventions for reframing cognitive distortions then I believe we’d see higher ES. But...that takes years & continual practice. Furthermore in edu, when stakes are high & teaching doesn’t also support growth over grades...

2...even a strong growth mindset can’t change system level problem like lack of depth in teaching. I DO believe in promoting growth over grades. It’s core to who I am. I also detest comparing growth of one student to another. In sports, or ANY level playing field competition can

1)I’m wondering about the study of 12000 students, and whoever did that study that they truly thought only after less than an hour of mindset videos that they would see improvement. How does that makes sense? Nothing is developed in a hour. How can they call that a true study?

Funny enough, Carol Dweck was the senior author on that study..."involved in every phase of the study, particularly the conception of the study, the study design, the preparation of intervention materials, the interpretation of analyses and the writing of the manuscript"
