History will not be kind to Donald Trump. Because truth matters. Right matters. And decency matters. It may be midnight in Washington, but the sun will rise again. I put my faith in the optimism of our Founders. You should too.

Schiff finishes his closing arguments with this: "[The Founders] gave you a remedy and they meant for you to use it. They gave you an oath and they meant for you to observe it. We have proven Donald Trump guilty, now do impartial justice and convict him. I yield back."

Today in visual communication class - exploring perception, optics, and cognition... (the drawing book is for an exercise that relates to merleau-ponty’s palpating w eyes...)

This whole passage on ruts came from going on a run after a hard rain and observing these trenches carved by the water. In my drawings raindrops become footprints - a march of ideas cutting through the landscape...

Some of the specifics of the machinery were modeled after my friend Andy Malone’s amazing 1967 Detroit rebellion chess set (of which I own a discarded piece)

Appreciate the kind words for my syllabi - but some have pointed out they work for this sort of course, maybe not for some other sort. To that i respond w/samples of my dad's physic handouts - filled w/his drawings - the biggest inspiration for my own & impetus to do more...

After yesterday’s twin political catastrophes, I think of this tough little 1901 poem about how failures of ethical courage—even if we get away w them—haunt us. The title, from Inferno 3, refers to those damned b/c they refused to commit themselves to any moral position:

Everybody was counting on someone else to do it so they wouldn’t have to... Kelly & Mattis, Bolton, and then Murkowski can say well, it’s all broken so nothing to be done. So there’s no one left. Except all of us.

one might've thought at least a handful of republicans would've picked up some of the clarity and bravery of their colleague - but instead, they kicked him out of the party & could claim this ridiculous partisan impeachment...

w/increasing frequency, i've been writing (as both native michiganders felt i'm a near-constituent) i appreciate, though am not sure his stance is a profile in courage. Rallying his colleagues might have been, though perhaps they are only capable of rank cowardice

This is great - nice to see comics groups being organized at more institutions and & co made a really sharp site!

So by kicking out for not toeing the party line, you can make statements like this. One might’ve expected his clarity on this criminal administration might’ve touched a few other colleagues - not so apparently. Brave men these are not.

And then, without thinking first, I say, "oh, and those two panels were subtracted so the total number of panels would be 52 (cards)." Of course. Because Moore wouldn't miss that. All of our minds blown. Class over. Fin. 5/5

In summarizing to wrap up, i talk about how the 9-panel grid relates to the structure of a building & the card tower, & are laid out like playing of cards, & how these cards/panels are repeated & reshuffled (remixed) to create new meaning (new information)... 4/5

Among things we raised, a discussion of why the lone 2 "smooshed" panels on the otherwise all 9-panel grids of this page? Good ideas raised: showcase buildings & emptiness, and a narrative shift from present events to past, all reasonable... 3/5

each of us (including me) had created a visual response to the work (diagrams, sketchnotes, annotations, etc.) - which led to engaging discussion on structure, repetition, symbolism, image-text resonance, and more... 2/5 (images me, , Anthony, )

Magical last minute unexpected reveal to close discussion in my Advanced Readings in Comics course - in which we took up Moore & Gebbie's 6pg "This is Information" (perhaps the most influential comic on my approach to comics making) - a thread because 280 characters... 1/5
