But ERIC relies on the accuracy of the info it receives from states, meaning that if states submit unreliable data, the resulting "movers" list from ERIC is less likely to be accurate. This is what happened in Wisconsin. In 2017, the movers list had an error rate of 7%

Under Wisconsin law, if election officials receive "reliable information" that a voter has moved out of their municipality, they must send that voter a confirmation notice and cancel their registration if they do not respond within 30 days

In October, the Elections Commission used the movers list to send notices, but did not tell recipients they could be removed if they didn't respond. It plans to give them 12-14 months to confirm their addresses. But WILL has sued to make it remove those voters now

An important caveat: The 7% error rate for the ERIC movers list came from the plaintiffs' complaint. It could very well be higher.
