but more than that, people often tell me that Apple devices, despite being so locked down and unrepairable, last a long time so it doesn't matter - but that's not true. part of what's good about repair-ability is the nthiary market - handmedowns!
the Thinkpad I had in college was bought by Chase and then sold to a recycler who replaced the drive and refurbed the chassis and sold it on ebay to another college student who sold it to me. got me through all four years. not going to catch that happening with a MacBook
