I think under copyright law computer generated works automatically become public domain. Otherwise for example you could have a computer generate all combinations of chords and sue music artists as infringing on that work. Subsequently computer generated works can’t infringe.

But what defines "computer generated", especially if the computer is generating things based on existing work, as here? Do you really think that a neural net trained to produce fuzzy Disney movies would be safe from lawsuits?
