im thinking again about that "hey rust isn't designed for all these use-cases" point again. but whats a good language good includes: • has algebraic data types • cross-platform • not a nightmare to compile code and add dependencies

ocaml makes it way too easy to commit incredibly fucked up build system crimes though. if you want a mild infohazard, go read the llpp build script (major unforced error on their part imo) f# would be my thought, but it too has build system issues

(the f# build system issues are mostly "i know jack shit about .net, and when i tried, i foolishly started on Xamarin, which is cursed". ymmv, extremely; it should work fine cross platform for cli or web stuff these days)
