Yes. Correct. I do not want Apple, or Microsoft, or Google to use my code. That is why it is licensed GPL.

OK, this is the reality of OSSW unfortunately. People coding OSSW that doesn't want people to use it. OK.

Why should I want to do free work for the biggest companies in the world without them even contributing back their time? What moral imperative are you assuming here?

What's the point of creating OSSW that nobody would use? I am not sure. Let's ask the Church of Stallman, maybe they have an answer. The point of OSSW is make SW fair and more accessible, and enhance the usage of tech for everyone. Or so I believed.

And I believe that "not Google, Apple, or Microsoft" ≠ "nobody". Yes?

Well, think about OS and add up Windows and MacOS and check up how many desktops are left for the Hurd.

idk what you want from me, dude. I daily drive Ubuntu and it's fine. I don't care about "winning" the market, I care about making my life and other people's lives better and free software, not open source, does that, in my experience.

My experience is that people needs to make a living in OSSW, like everywhere else, and being a license zealot detracts from users and from sponsorship opportunities.

I'm literally not a zealot. I licensed my software a certain way and want those _legal contracts_ to be obeyed. I don't give a shit what you do.

That's not the point, the point (what I asked) is why you are using GPL and become defensive when someone said that GPL should go the way of the dinosaur.

And I told you: it's because that's what I want to license my software over which I hold copyright. I can license it whatever I want, and I don't agree with your goals, so I'm not going to use your methods. We're going different places, of course we're not on the same bus.
