to be clear: audacity is an amazing program, but _is_ held back by a lack of design polish. lots of free software has this problem. however it is not inherent to all free software and to say it is risks legitimizing proprietarization.
also a super good example of what happens when people who don't care about free software gain power over FOSS projects 
as Irenes said on Twitter, this is why we need co-ops in tech.
do you happen to have any more info on this? I cant find much in the tag besides the tos/priv policy has worrying changes, but unsure how that is linking up w/ tantacrul.
Tantacrul is involved with the org that bought Audacity - he made a series of videos about bad UX in music software, and they hired him to work on UX design and lens legitimacy to their company.
mostly unrelated but why *do* so many FOSS projects have such bad UX?
are there just less designers who like to contribute to FOSS projects?
