If a dev doesn't intend for their code to be used by others, they shouldn't Open Source it. I consider it a badge of honor if another dev uses my code.
My code is licensed. People have to obey that license when they reuse it. I don't see why GH gets to just ignore that license.
I agree. This technology raises an important question — is GH responsible for license compliance or is the dev who uses the code responsible? Or both? Or should GH make the dev aware of the license and the dev is responsible?
GitHub is creating a derivative work from my code, right? Their model would definitely be different if it had not been trained on my code.
