"rust in action" is out and the so is the second edition of "programming rust"? awesome

How those 2 compare?
I'm co-author of the O'Reilly book. Imo, our book is _about Rust_, while Rust in Action uses Rust to teach about systems programming. In other words, read both! I know I'm looking forward to my copy of RiA.

I would place the emphasis slightly differently. Rust in Action is primarily a Rust book, but it happens to use examples from systems programming. Its distinguishing characteristic is that it teaches Rust with large worked examples.

That said, Rust in Action does not cover the entire language. Instead it focuses on providing experience with a productive subset and several well-used crates.

They are mentioned on the product page, but in short: - added a chapter on Async - split out the FFI discussion into a new chapter - comprehensive updates to 1.50/edition 2018 - overhauled examples and diagrams throughout
