when i draw the Death in Future/2, it's not that I think, "ah, a major change _is_ coming, for sure, better prep for that" - among other things, that would be useless. instead it's a way of making space to _think about_ what major changes are plausible, and how to deal w/ them
it is, like tarot and other methods of divination, a way to cast an externally dictated framing on empirical situations and thus force oneself to reconsider one's biases. personally, i don't know anyone who actually thinks the positions of the planets materially affect outcomes

certainly there _are_ people who believe directly in the influence of such things but i'd argue it's no more problematic than people kneeling in front of a rack of candles and asking baby jesus to heal their family member's cancer. it's about comfort and reframing and it's fine.

i'm sure there are astrology extremists (lol, what a phrase) but i stand by what i said in this thread, i think most people rely on it no more seriously than most christians rely on prayer

It isn't just predictions though. Many people genuinely believe knowing someone's birthday gives insight into their personality. e.g. Don't take a Gemini's words at face value.

Don't take anyone's words at face value; trust but verify. Like, I get where you're coming from - obviously one has to be self aware and not actually stereotype people based on their birthday - but I think it's largely harmless.
