Just to add a maybe slightly dissenting voice to this - I absolutely despise composing in a DAW, but getting my hands on a Squarp Pyramid totally changed the game for me and has me producing tracks like nobody's business. Not _good_ ones, but still!
Nothing can make up for skill and time spent, and someone who's talented and spends a lot of time on it can make music on anything, but for a hobbyist like me, I'd honestly probably move on to something else if I could only make music in the box.
