I know I'm falling for your snipe, but I love this idea. My idea isn't scalable, but perhaps we assign an ID to each channel that acts as a multiplier to a message. Like a baseX system where X is the number of channels. A little like bitflags and Linux permissions octals.

If you're talking about language/dialect, it could be predetermined when establishing a channel like en-US. This is simplistic, but there are many things that can be established as part of a session of sorts which would make the message header more slim. It's already too big.

No, I mean - how do you establish those channels? If you're using frequency-based channels, people in different reference frames will see different frequencies. Doppler shift from hell.

If the value is constant, it's not a frequency though. Seems more like wide area entanglement. We could use more traditional methods of establishing a session, and then use this for passing as little data as possible to take advantage of the speed.
