y'know, there's been a few times I've come across folks angy about Castor & Pollux having mini-pots. & Like, that's fine - you can have a preference, but there's also some folks that claim that I had some ulterior motive behind doing that.

Like, I didn't use mini-pots in order to make room for the LEDs. Quite the opposite- the LEDs aren't in the perfect spot for each "star" because of the front panel components. There's also isn't a "ton of room". The jackboard is quite densely packed.pic.twitter.com/EVf6gYHcVM

Castor & Pollux uses mini-pots due to a balance between three constraints: functionality, usability, and cost. If I wanted to use larger pots but not increase the price, I'd have to remove functionality - like the waveform outputs or mixers for each oscillator.

If I wanted to have all the functionality and switch all the pots to larger pots it would cost more- a lot more, actually. I did a cost analysis of that.

In the end, I chose to use mini-pots so that I could (1) have separate waveform outputs, (2) have an on-board three-channel mixer for each osc, and (3) keep the price below $300.

Woah! That's like, engineering, or something! I thought it was just a conspiracy to sell more RGB!
