I've had arguments with my mother over this so often. "Can you help me do X in Y?" "Well, Y is actually really bad at doing X, I'd suggest trying to do X in Z instead." "But I like Y." :(
My favorite (
) is when people ask me for recommendations for laptops, I tell them to get a new-old-stock Thinkpad or something, and then they go with a MacBook Air for twice the price, not because they like MacOS but because "it'll last longer".

I keep getting asked for help with Windows and my answer is always "I don't know, I haven't touched Windows in years". One grandma actually ended up switching to Kubuntu and... she needs support less often than the Windows users in the family heh...
