the idea of memex is really not all that complex tbh. there's a handful of simple components that link together in various ways but it's not enormously complex, it's just someone needs to make it
I wonder - the wiki, for instance, is similarly pretty simple in concept but ends up having a lot of very subtle edge cases. MediaWiki is a case study in solving them poorly at great expense.
