My sense is this is not an intentional Russian attack. Either a malfunction or the results of Ukrainians shooting down a Russian missile. But a clear reminder of Russia's reckless willingness to shoot too close to Polish/NATO/EU border. Article 4 Consultations seem appropriate. twitter.com/McFaul/status/

Lavrov says it’s not about Ukraine, it’s an attack on all things Russian - language, culture, religion.
Well, Putin’s destruction of Russian-speaking cities in eastern Ukraine is indeed the worst thing anyone has done to Russian interests and language since WWII.

It’s not as salacious or shocking as this article intends. The only shocking thing is it was granted on behalf of this defendant but never has been on behalf of my defendants… which I believe says something 👀

This is a routine defense request that pros not be allowed to refer to victims as such bc it alleges a crime has been committed prior to the determination that a crime has been committed.

The judge in Kyle Rittenhouse's trial says lawyers cannot call the 2 people he killed "victims."
Rittenhouse killed 2 people and wounded another with an AR-15 style weapon. The judge says "victim" is too "loaded" but will let lawyers call them "rioters, looters or arsonists."

"Trump would have been worse so anything does Biden does is okay" is not a "principle," it's tribalism. It's okay to say: "I like the guy, I'm glad he's president, but he's not perfect."
You can do that. It's healthy.

Chauvin's conviction was not difficult on a legal/factual level. His guilt was clear. The trial of the other 3 officers is far more nuanced and complex. What legal obligation do cops have to intervene and stop one of their own from engaging in criminal conduct?
