I had a similar experience in France, except they charged me noting. One of the best experiences I’ve had with healthcare.

I got a bad sunburn in France. My French mom opened the phone book, called a dermatologist, saw her the next day, $10 for office visit, 3 bucks for cream. VERY reasonable.

They have a better health care system than we do. So, yeah. Nobody is bankrupt because of health care.

Had the same experience when my girlfriend got really sick in Spain, though they didn't charge us anything.

But their hospitals are in pretty bad shape though. Few years ago, I was in Athens and caught very bad flu. I went to an emergency unit of a hospital closed by, and surprisingly, it didn’t open on that day. I took a cab and went to another hospital.
