Bogie's last film. He had to redo a number of closeups 'cause his eyes would water easily - was battling cancer even then on the set. As a theatre actor Bogie wasn't quite fond of method actors as co-star, Rod Steiger, was; altho' Bogie showed RD great respect & professionalism.

My first viewing of this movie and it was great. Humphrey Bogart is one of my favorite actors and this being his last film, he still gave his all. Hard to believe that a year later and he was gone.

A very recognizable character, Edward Andrews has a small role as Jim (one of the the boxing managers). He is at his best portraying louche types.😘

Bogart makes his characters so intriguing that even if you don’t care for boxing you can’t stop watching. You have to keep watching just to see what happens next.
