Seriously unacceptable blanket infringement on privacy. Amazing how much the government can get away with in the name of anti-terror.

Respectfully recommend ’s diplomats & military officials try harder to establish policy coherence between them. Heard many gripe about lack of common understandings internationally. But that starts at home. So thanks for your work

As expected, no legislation on weapon autonomy by the German Bundestag (yet). But there is a strong consensus not to delegate life and decisions on the battlefield to machines. How do we get from here to sensible ([inter]national) regulation? Less rhetoric, more differentiation!👇

AI and MEDICINE It’s an exciting idea to use high speed computing for searching the space of potentially helpful molecules. I’ve 2 concerns 1. Let’s wait for the pharms trails before opening the champagne 2. Who said drugs are the best way to treat OCD? Therapy?

FACIAL RECOGNITION again! The last few weeks have seen disturbing revelations about the roll out of facial recognition. Police we know about, but private companies and council in the UK are using it totally without our consent. We must to stop it. I’ve signed Liberty’s petition.

BIOMETRIC DATA Rasha from makes a very important point here about the proportionality of biometric data analysis. How much is really necessary to ID someone.

This is extremely worrying - how can collection of such extensive biometric data be necessary and proportionate for identification? Reminder this includes fingerprints, hand geometry, earlobe geometry, retina and iris patterns, voice waves & DNA. 🤔🤔🤔

Artefacts coded by humans. In this case, greedy companies asked for an algorithm to manipulate proposals sent to doctors. One day they’ll train computers on "tailored" datasets to and market it as "AI". poke

Been studying, inventing for 50+ yrs. Whenever I hear someone promoting that robots should have "rights," I am left w/ the insight that those promoters are egomaniacal in that they believe that they have "transcendent power" to create entities w/ souls.😔

It's not the robots that need rights, but the humans - to protect us from robots and computational algorithms impeding our autonomy and our privacy
