Big time! Upon initially discovering this text some years ago while a monastic resident in Taiwan, I took contemplation to mean vipaśyanā, but now, finally looking more closely at the Chinese, 覺觀 is actually, perhaps, an early rendering of vitarka-vicāra. Food for thought!
